Hello, my name is George Guenther and I am the owner of The Village Smith. I enjoy making all sorts of custom
pieces in a variety of metals and design types. I also like for you to be involved in the design and layout
of the piece I am making as it is your piece and your memories I am saving for you.
I have gone to a leading metalsmithing school in the stated (called
Howard Academy for the Metal Arts) and have
extensive training in Gold, Silver, steel and other alternative metals like Pewter and bronze. One of my
specialties is Damascus jewelry, this is a pattern welded steel jewelry the can be incorporated with more
traditional materials and stones. Another aspect of the same process is called Mokume Gane, which is translated
as Wood Grain Metal, however I can also manipulate the Mokume Gane to be any of a number of patterns, including
flowers, insignias and other shapes. This metal can then be used in any jewelry applications
I have also won a number of awards for design and construction at the WJA and MJE trade shows. I won first
place for ring Design with a ring made of Niobium and silver with hand cut amethyst stones in it, first place
for Pendants with a piece of inlay work with Malachite, Lapis and turquoise, and first place in the other category
for a silver fairy ball (small bell) in the shape of an acorn.
I also do any number of repairs and reworking for older and existing jewelry of all types. As well I can take
special requests for both pieces of jewelry and manufacturing techniques.
As a kudos to the environment and the earth I am environmentally aware and use only second hand metals and
materials when I can.
I look forward to designing and working with you and making your memories in Metal.
